Upper Middle Lower

With the ongoing knowledge explosion, the children of today will need to develop a sense of themselves as competent, lifelong learners who can function in diverse settings. The Lower School is committed to building conceptual understanding, and thus places great emphasis on hands-on experience since children in these early years think concretely. The goal is two-fold: that students establish a foundation of self-confidence and the ability to learn, and that they develop a genuine understanding of what has been learned so that their knowledge becomes transferable.

The Lower School prides itself on taking a child from where she/he enters the school academically and advancing him from that point, being conscious of age. Our curriculum addresses the whole child, including personal, social and emotional development. Classroom activities foster the child's ability to solve problems collaboratively as well as to set individual goals with teachers. Students learn to communicate linguistically and mathematically, orally and in writing, across all disciplines. They also receive countless opportunities for learning "outside" of the classroom. Throughout this process, a strong partnership between the family and the school develops. Parents and teachers keep in close communication and work together to nurture the growth of the whole child.
